Rent a Vehicle

Go at your own speed and create your own adventure...drive yourself. Discover jungle-green and sky-blue vistas around every curve, stop for a photo or to smell the wild flowers. Your valid driver's license is all you need. For your convenience, and no cost to you, our knowledgeable bilingual constantly stay abreast of the rates of several of the most reputable car rental agencies. We will make all your arrangements to rent a reliable car or 4X4 and have it delivered for free pick up and drop off at Adventure Inn Hotel. What we quote you is all you ever need to pay, guaranteed!

Be careful renting vehicles online with the big multinationals as many try to hide the high costs of insurance and taxes (saying in fine print they may or may not be included. Believe me, they are not included!). When you can't talk to a real person, and receive a final guaranteed total price, beware! Unfortunately some of our guests have fallen victim to these unscrupulous multinationals and have been forced to pay nearly double what they expected, after it was too late to cancel, which is why we stepped in.

Perfect Year-Round Climate

All guest rooms have individually controlled air-conditioning but you will probably find it an unnecessary waste of energy. Our location has been rated as having one of the world's best climates by National Geographic because we are in a large central valley a kilometer above sea level. Adventure Inn guests enjoy a constant 72-78 degree temperature year-round.

WaterLand

On days you may want to just relax in our perfect year-round spring-like climate and stay around Adventure Inn. For sunning, sliding, and dipping in a 'cool' pool "WaterLand", a water theme park 2 kilomters away may entertain the kids a while on quiet days, our guests have free admission, but please don't expect much. We will shuttle you both ways, or you may simply enjoy the pleasant walk back through the quiet elegant neighborhood.

Getting Here for Free

From the San Jose Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO)

The Adventure Inn is open 24 hours per day, and is about ten minutes from the airport. To get to Adventure Inn Hotel for free and no waiting half an hour or more for a shuttle, after you clear customs, simply pay at the 'Taxis Unidos - Airport Taxi' booth and they will assign you a driver and an orange taxi or van to Adventure Inn. Be sure you save your receipt as we will credit your account the normal fare, so it costs you nothing to arrive safely and effortlessly to our front door.

To the San Jose Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO)

We provide a complimentary taxi one direction either from or to the airport per night that you stay with us. If you need transportation to the airport, please ask our receptionist to arrange a taxi for you at whatever time you wish to leave, and request the hotel pay the taxi driver. This way you arrive quickly and safely to the airport prior to your flight at no cost to you. If you need a taxi from and to the airport and are staying only one night, you will have to pay for the second taxi yourself, which will be about $10.

To or from the Pavas airport

Our complimentary taxi is either to or from the international (SJO) airport. If you need transportation to or from the Pavas (Tobias Bolaños) airport, we can instead cover the first $10 of the taxi. The total cost should be no more than $15, meaning you only pay about $5.

Actual driving directions to Adventure Inn:

Coming from the San Jose Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) drive on the main highway into San Jose. After about 7 km (5 miles), exit right under the second overhead bridge (Francisco J. Orlich Bridge) and go straight ahead on the road parallel to the highway for 1.5 kilometers. Just before you get back onto the highway, instead turn right. You will see large beige-colored arches, and the Adventure Inn is one block to the left of them.

Finance Your Vacation

Some of our guests have been able to finance much or all of their Costa Rica accommodations or entire vacation with the savings from Costa Rica plastic surgery, eye surgery and dental work. Clean, private hospitals are fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, and manned by American and European trained doctors using the latest techniques. They charge about a third of what you would normally pay for the same procedure in the US and Canada. Spend your first day or so having the work done, then recover a few days in seclusion and comfort at Adventure Inn, with room service and 24 hour staff, then later tour Costa Rica when you feel more up to it. If you are interested in having any type of medical procedure done in Costa Rica, please let us know and we will gladly refer you to a highly experienced and reputable English speaking medical doctor specializing in your field. We also have an American nurse on call 24 hours.

The Owner and Management

The Adventure Inn is owned and operated by a father/son team, Canadians, Eric Robinson, a 1974 University of Waterloo graduate environmentalist and Mike, his son, a 2004 chemistry graduate from the Carleton University in Ottawa.

While operating three consecutive lodging establishments in northern Ontario, Eric (and later with his family) managed to travel tens of thousands of miles exploring the farthest reaches of the Pacific Rim including South East Asia, the three Americas, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, and some of the vast South Pacific while doing post-graduate research on Third World ecotourism marketing.

Father and son split the general management and internet duties of Adventure Inn.

Eric hopes that Costa Rica ecotourism remains sustainable, meaning that all visitors to Costa Rica should try to impact minimally and only positively on the indigenous physical, natural, cultural and economic setting. This will allow future visitors to equally enjoy their Costa Rican travel adventure.
