Vehículos de tracción simple vs vehículos de doble tracción

Para la mayoría de lugares en Costa Rica, un vehículo de tracción simple es lo suficientemente bueno. La mayoría de carreteras principales de Costa Rica están pavimentadas, sin embargo cuando comienza a movilizarse a lugares más apartados, o a áreas más remotas, las carreteras están cada vez menos pavimentadas. En algunos lugares, incluso podría involucrar conducir a través de ríos si el gobierno no ha puesto un puente. Vadear ríos en la época lluviosa se vuelve considerablemente más difícil con un vehículo de tracción simple debido al crecido fluir del agua. Otros lugares remotos, como Monteverde y la Península de Osa, requieren de un vehículo de doble tracción durante todo el año. Si se dirige hacia un área remota, la mejor opción es hablar con el hotel en el que se estará hospedando y preguntarles. Si no tiene un plan concreto acerca de dónde se estará hospedando y usted es del tipo de persona aventurera, no sería una mala idea ser precavido y alquilar un vehículo de doble tracción.

Los microbuses privados es una de las maneras más confiables y despreocupadas de viajar alrededor de Costa Rica. No se preocupe nunca más por perderse otra vez. Los microbuses privados varían entre $39 y $59 por adulto y los(as) niños(as) pagan la mitad del precio. Los precios son levemente más altos para la Península de Osa. Simplemente contáctenos y háganos saber hacia dónde se dirige y nosotros haremos todos los arreglos por usted.

Vuelos domésticos

Costa Rica tiene dos principales aerolíneas domésticas, Sansa cuyos vuelos salen del Aeropuerto Internacional (SJO), y NatureAir cuyos vuelos salen del Aeropuerto de Pavas Tobías Bolaños. En un día despejado las vistas son espectaculares, y un viaje por carretera de varias horas se puede lograr en cuestión de minutos. Sin embargo, se perderá de mucho, y aún más importante, estudios demuestran que usted tiene 120 veces más posibilidades de chocar por milla volada con un pequeño avión doméstico que con un avión estadounidense más grande. Si no tiene una agenda muy ajustada, le recomendamos que experimente la auténtica Costa Rica por tierra o mar.

Para grupos de 4 o más adultos, contratar un conductor privado podría ser otra excelente opción si no quieren conducir o si no planean conducir mucho durante su estadía. Con bastante frecuencia, es incluso más barato contratar un conductor privado que tomar un microbús debido a que los conductores privados cobran un precio ya establecido por el viaje y no por persona. Los conductores privados tienen todas las ventajas de los microbuses privados con el bono extra de poder irse a la hora que desee y detenerse en el camino cuando quiera.
