Véhicules 2RM vs 4RM

Pour la plupart des endroits au Costa Rica, un véhicule 2RM est suffisamment correcte. La plupart des routes principales du Costa Rica sont pavées, mais lorsque vous commencez à vous déplacer hors des sentiers battus, ou dans des zones plus isolées, les routes sont de moins en moins pavées. Dans certains endroits, cela implique même de rouler à travers les rivières, si le gouvernement n'a pas mis un pont en place. Les rivières à gué pendant la saison des pluies deviennent sensiblement plus difficiles avec un véhicule 2RM en raison de l'augmentation du débit d'eau. D’autres endroits éloignés, tels que Monteverde et la péninsule d'Osa, exigent un véhicule 4RM durant toute l’année. Si vous vous rendez dans une région éloignée, le mieux serait de parler avec le personnel de l'hôtel ou vous logez et leur demander conseille. Si vous n'avez pas d'idées concrètes de l'endroit où vous logerez et que vous êtes du genre aventureux, ce ne serait pas une mauvaise idée de se ranger du côté de la prudence en louant un véhicule 4RM.
