Our Story
From Ontario to Cariari — a family built around Costa Rican hospitality.
The Robinson Family
After graduating from the University of Waterloo in Canada in 1975 with a degree in Environmental Studies, Eric Robinson built a career in eco-minded hospitality in northern Ontario. In 1995, Eric and his sons Michael and Andrew drove eleven days from northern Ontario to Costa Rica. Eric began operating Hemingway Inn, a 17-room bed-and-breakfast in Barrio Amón, San José, converted from a 1929 coffee-plantation hacienda, and ran it until 2004.
That same year, Eric purchased Adventure Inn in Los Arcos, Cariari, halfway between San José and SJO Airport. Around the same time, Michael returned to Costa Rica after graduating from Carleton University in Ottawa. Since then, Eric and Michael have operated Adventure Inn together as a father-and-son team, shaping it into a small, personal hotel for travelers beginning or ending a Costa Rica trip, as well as guests visiting for climate, tours, business, conventions, or medical tourism.
Our purpose is simple: make travel easy and seamless, treat guests warmly, provide a comfortable and value-priced place to arrive, eat well, sleep soundly, and offer experienced advice and planning — when asked — so travelers get more from their Costa Rica trip, not just their stay with us.

We are not trying to be a remote eco-lodge. We are a family-run hotel near SJO and San José, doing our part to make travel more comfortable, convenient, local, and responsible.
